Euroshop 23-27 February 2008

Darnton Elgee are pleased to announce that they will be exhibiting at Euroshop in Dusseldorf from the 23^rd to the 27^th of February 2008.

The exhibition is held every three years and is a major showcase of retail from across the globe. Darnton Elgee will be highlighting our Retail Support Services capability and the extensive specialism held across the retail sector. We look forward to welcoming you to our stand E70 in Hall 12.

The team are happy to meet with people interested in our services to discuss how we can add value to retail operations.

October Brings Handover of in excess of Half a Million sqft of Retail Space

Darnton Elgee are pleased to announce that they have achieved a record month in being responsible for handing over in excess of ½ million sqft of new retail space to their clients during October 2007.

Encompassing a breadth of projects for both food and non-food retailers, schemes include complex major town centre refurbishment, retail park new stores, high street fit-out and a large volume of internal store trading initiatives.

Projects ranging in size up to 60,000 sqft have been successfully landed throughout the United Kingdom for clients including Asda Stores, Marks & Spencer, Tesco Stores, Farmfoods and WH Smith.

Such volume is an indication of the knowledge, skill and retail focus of Darnton Elgee and comes as part of our ongoing operations in this fast paced and exciting market sector.

Wayne Fisher Appointed as Associate

Darnton Elgee is delighted to announce the appointment of Wayne Fisher as an Associate of the practice.

Wayne joined Darnton Elgee in 2006 in the role of Bristol Office Manager and has been part of the successful growth of the organisation over this period.

Marking a new direction for the firm, the opening of a Bristol office in May 2006 has been a successful venture and the professional team now boasts a broad skill base from interior design to architecture and project management.

Wayne has overseen a number of exciting major projects for clients including Marks & Spencer and is keen to build upon this initial success. With a growing client base and the ability to provide quality services across markets including residential, commercial, industrial, education and retail, the future looks bright for the Bristol team.

Launch of successful store development and remodel at M&S Banbury

Halloween brought the launch of the newly remodelled and expanded Marks & Spencer store at Banbury.

Darnton Elgee acted as architects for this major scheme on behalf of the client, including the acquisition and imaginative conversion of an adjacent former hardware store and the creation of additional trading areas at first floor level.

Working hand in hand with the project team that included D&B contractor Pearce, Darnton Elgee have helped to create a new 55,000 sqft store at the Castle Quay shopping centre.

New ecologically sensitive Asda Superstore completes at Shaw

A new ecologically sensitive Asda Superstore at Shaw near Oldham has been completed, with Darnton Elgee acting as architects on behalf of design and build contractor Bowmer & Kirkland.

Incorporating a timber frame, the store is built on the site of Shaw mill, using bricks and timber from the original building. The 35,000 sq ft store also includes a natural ventilation system, via ‘saw tooth’ north lights, reducing energy consumption.

The store is the second superstore that Darnton Elgee have completed in conjunction with Bowmer & Kirkland, the first being the new superstore at Rushden, Northamptonshire.

A new ecologically sensitive Asda Superstore at Shaw near Oldham has been completed, with Darnton Elgee acting as architects on behalf of design and build contractor Bowmer & Kirkland.

The store is the second superstore that Darnton Elgee have completed in conjunction with Bowmer & Kirkland, the first being the new superstore at Rushden, Northamptonshire.

Bristol Summer Party

Darnton Elgee recently celebrated the first anniversary of the opening of our Bristol office with a vibrant Summer Party held at the Square Club, Clifton.

The evening was a great success, with a number of clients and business contacts enjoying champagne and canapés in relaxed and comfortable surrounds. The exciting occasion marked the celebration of the success of the Bristol office venture, opened in June 2006.

Since establishing the office, based in WestPoint, Clifton, Darnton Elgee have continued to expand and recruit to the team, with recent staff additions in the areas of Design, Project Management and Marketing.

A member of Business West and with further intentions to build upon the initial impact the Bristol office has created, the Darnton Elgee team is happy to discuss any needs with a friendly and professional approach.

Success @ Green Apple Awards 2007

The University of Huddersfield School of Drama has received a National Bronze award in the 2007 Green Apple Awards for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage.

The building, already a recipient of the 2006 Yorkshire Renaissance Award for Best Restoration project, involved the sensitive renovation and restoration of two Grade II listed church buildings on the town centre campus.

Opened to plaudits from, amongst others, Chancellor Patrick Stewart, the project was delivered on time and budget, providing stunning performance and rehearsal facilities for use by University students.

ASDA Retail Development 2007 Supplier Award successes

Darnton Elgee were the proud recipients of two awards at the 2007 Asda Retail Development Supplier Awards.

The practice are delighted to have received the award for ‘Best Major & Fit For Performance’, recognising performance in the provision of project management services.

A further accolade was bestowed on Project Manager Malcolm McGee as he received an 'Outstanding Achievement' award, being recognised for his outstanding performance and sustainable contribution.

The awards are a further illustration of the continued commitment of Darnton Elgee to the principles of exceptional client satisfaction, quality and added value.
