Project: South Hall Restaurant
refurbishment

Services:_ Architecture

This design and build project consisted of the sympathetic refurbishment of a public restaurant enclosed entirely on a railway platform within the National Railway Museum.

The scheme includes extensive catering facilities and space to accommodate 184 diners, placed in a setting themed around historic locomotion. The restaurant is finished in the Victorian style, with period detailing including etched glass panels and ornate feature posts.

Construction works were carried out on a very tight time scale and, as the Museum continued regular opening hours throughout, full public access had to be maintained.
