The practice first undertook an initial space utilisation survey of the Boston Spa campus to assess the capacity and condition of existing buildings and consider their best use for the future, assisting in the preparation of a masterplan.

This complex initial relocation programme was completed successfully on time with the campus now housing almost half of the entire British Library staff.

A further addition to the Boston Spa campus came in the form of a new 50km Bookstore, designed to BS 5454.
